Dr. Monider Singh MD, MBA

Dr. Monider "Monty" Singh is a board-certified physician specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Though a native of Brooklyn, New York, he is proud to have been raised in the South Houston area, where he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Houston. Dr. Singh is committed to serving his community by providing exceptional, high-quality care.

Dr. Singh treats a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including gastroesophageal disorders, acid
reflux, and various constipation and diarrheal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). He also
specializes in inflammatory bowel disorders (such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease) and hepatic
and pancreatic disorders. With a particular focus on gastrointestinal cancer prevention, he is proficient in
performing endoscopies and colonoscopies.

Dr. Singh's extensive academic journey began in Houston before he earned his Doctor of Medicine
(M.D.) from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He also holds a Master of Business
Administration (M.B.A.) in Multi-Sector Health Management from St. George's University.

He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Abrazo Community Health Network in Phoenix, AZ,
and his Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at Larkin Community Health Hospital in South
Miami, FL.

Throughout his medical training, Dr. Singh has shown a strong commitment to research, serving as a
Research Head during both his residency and fellowship programs. His work has resulted in numerous
publications and presentations on a wide range of topics with focus on gastrointestinal disorders.

He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of
Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Singh is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi and has a working knowledge of Spanish and Urdu,
allowing him to connect with a diverse patient population.

Destanie Bankston, FNP

Destanie Bankston is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She has earned her MSN. She is specially trained in gastroenterology. She has 12 years of nursing experience. She joined Coastal Gastroenterology in 2023 and has become a valuable team member of Dr. Adi Malhotra's GI Team. She strives to provide quality care to her patients. She has portrayed excellent bedside manners, and carries a warm smile for her patients. She continues to work alongside Dr. Malhotra in hospital and clinic settings.

Advitya Malhotra MD

Dr. Adi Malhotra is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Coastal Gastroenterology Assoc, located in Webster. He moved to the US in 2003. After a year of research training at Yale University, he moved to Texas where he completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at UTMB, Galveston, and MD Anderson Cancer Institute. He has been serving the greater Galveston community for the last 20 years.

His team also includes two nurse practitioners, Jesseca Izquierdo and Destanie Bankston. Both of them have been trained and worked with Dr. Malhotra in the field of GI and Liver. He has hired Dr. Mahvish Khalid to help expand the group and provide GI care to the community. The presence of Dr. Khalid would be especially beneficial to the female patients who are waiting a few weeks to months to see a female gastroenterologist in the community.

He specializes in the prevention of colon cancer with screening colonoscopy. He also specializes in managing patients with esophageal reflux, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), liver disease (fatty liver, hepatitis), and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease).

Jesseca Izquierdo, FNP

Jesseca Izquierdo is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She earned her MSN from Walden University. She is specially trained in gastroenterology. She has extensive work experience with 16 years of emergency room nursing. She joined Coastal Gastroenterology in 2022 and has become a valuable team member of Dr. Adi Malhotra's GI Team. She is passionate and a hard worker when it comes to providing care to her patients.. She continues to work alongside Dr. Malhotra in hospital and clinic settings.

Dr. Mahvish Khalid, MD

Dr. Mahvish Khalid is a gastroenterologist at Coastal Gastroenterology Associates. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Khalid treats patients with an array of gastrointestinal disorders, including gastric and esophageal disorders, liver diseases, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, and gastrointestinal cancer screening and prevention. She also performs EGDs and Colonoscopies.

Dr. Khalid focuses on providing compassionate medical care with a patient-centered approach. She believes it is important to give appropriate time to each patient to explain the disease processes and involve patients in medical decision making.

Education and Training

Dr. Khalid received her medical degree from C.M.H Lahore Medical College in Pakistan, graduating top of her class with distinctions. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Detroit Medical Center/ Wayne State University, followed by a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Larkin Hospital – Palm Springs in Miami, FL. During her training, she was the Chief Fellow and participated in multiple research articles.
